Mary Mullane

Mary Mullane is a yoga and fitness instructor since 2013. Her biggest influencer was Bryan Kest’s Power Yoga. Mr. Bryan Kest coined the term “power yoga” and emphasizes gentleness while offering humor and modifications. This down-to-earth philosophy is very similar to the Trauma Sensitive Yoga model without being clinical or taking itself too seriously. In addition, to training with Bryan Kest in 2015 at Altamonte Springs Yoga in Florida, she has trained in Trauma Sensitive Yoga with David Emerson and Elizabeth Hopper developed from their book Overcoming Trauma through Yoga at Kripalu in 2013. Mary enjoys teaching fitness classes like Silver Sneakers and Aqua Fit. She has trained in meditation during a 10-day silent Vipassana (Buddhist insight) meditation retreat, exploring different styles of meditation through Jonathan Sudhir Foust’s teaching at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2016. In 2020, she completed meditation training to 10 hours of consecutive Eucharistic Adoration (Catholic style of meditation). Now, her main teaching style encourages gentleness, rest, and playful challenge. Working out should be gentle yet challenging. Yoga should not be so concerned to be perfect or approached like a performance. Ease of the body comes through practicing non-judging awareness. Yoga should not be so serious that we forget to enjoy the breath or to laugh. Laughter is beautiful medicine. Do the best you can and take care of yourself. Allow exercise to become part of your lifestyle so that way you can find ease in your body, mind, and spirit. The goal is to have fun, stretch, balance, and sweat a bit.
